# rhun

> rhun is a small, very fast code editor for Linux (x86-64) and macOS (Apple silicon), written in assembly. It has tabs, a file explorer, syntax highlighting for 127 languages and file formats, find and replace, a built-in terminal, Git history and diffs, fuzzy search, an optional Vim mode, 39 color themes and an agents panel that shows Claude Code and Codex sessions live. Free and open source (MIT). Current version: 0.15.1.

Facts:

- One static binary under 700 KB on Linux (fonts, themes and grammars included), with no libc, toolkit or runtime. It draws every pixel itself and speaks Wayland and X11 directly; on macOS the same source is translated to native Apple silicon code and runs in an AppKit window.
- Install: `curl -fsSL https://github.com/vshvedov/rhun/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh` (or `wget -qO-`). No root; checks SHA-256 checksums and, on macOS, the developer signature. Uninstall: add `sh -s -- --uninstall`.
- Updates: rhun checks GitHub once a day in the background; the status bar offers a new version, installs it and restarts into it.
- Settings: `~/.config/rhun/config`, applied while running. Grammars: `~/.config/rhun/syntax/NAME.syn`. Themes: `~/.config/rhun/themes/NAME.theme`.
- No Windows version.
